January 25th – John 13:21-38 “Knowing the Love of Jesus Christ -4”
Points to review from last week – Realize the true love of God and be related with God’s love.
1. To be related in love with Christ, you must show your dirtiest and ugliest part and let Christ touch you.
2. To receive the love of Christ is to submit yourself to Christ. (John 13;9)
3. Feel the joy of being accepted
God already knows we are not perfect, still He loves us.
Today’s message: “Love one another.”
1. Love is to be built up with belief in God. To believe God is to have faith that God loves you no matter what. Love of romance may be turned on or off depending on the mood or situation; however, the love of God remains the same at all time.
Ephesians 3:14-19 – For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom his whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge – that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
2. God’s love has no peak/plateau. Human love reaches a peak when you get hold of what you had badly wanted and loved. Once you have what you wanted, your interest may subside. Love with God keeps growing and remains forever..
1 Corinthians 13:13 – And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
3. We have been given the responsibility to be witnesses of the love of Christ in this world.
John 13:34-35 – A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are disciples, if you love one another.
Love between people tend to involve expectation of some kind of returns. If we follow Jesus’ command and can share the same love of Christ with one another, then we will be true witnesses to the world. It may be easy to criticize other people, their philosophy, religion or actions; however, we should rather look back on ourselves to focus on love of God.
