LC Message–John 14:25-31-Experiencing the Peace of Christ
Kids Message
John 14:27 – Jesus’ Gift of Peace – “Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Your heart must not be troubled or fearful.
What is “peace”? Absence of worry? Absence of “war”?
Jesus said He would leave peace.
Opposite of peace is war. We don’t know war. Neither do the current politicians like Abe-San know war. They don’t know how terrible war is. War is awful. Once it’s started war will not stop.
In the midst of all this we need the real “Peace” of Christ. It is the only true hope. World peace starts with peace in our hearts.
Before the cross we were the enemies of God. But, through the cross we are made right with God and given true peace.
The first and most important step to world peace is for each of us to have the peace of Christ.

Seeking the Peace of the heart
In v.27. Jesus is not talking peace in the sense of “no war” or “no struggle”. He is saying “Peace” or “Shalom” which means the presence of God. “May God be with you.”
We have so many worries all around us. We often loose to the enemy of worry and concern. We often think “if that person or that thing were not there, all would be great.” We find real Peace in the midst of the struggle.
It is less about changing our situation and more about changing our hearts.
Steps to experiencing Peace with God
1. Reconciliation with God
Romans 5:10 – For if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, then how much more, having been reconciled, will we be saved by His life!
God is the one making things right, not us. We simply need to receive God’s forgiveness and reconciliation.
2. Trust in Christ
John 14:1 – The Way to the Father – “Your heart must not be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in Me.
When we trust in Christ we experience peace. When we don’t and doubt Christ, the opposite of peace happens.
3. Give up seeking peace in our own way. The world cannot give us real peace.
John 14:27 – Jesus’ Gift of Peace – “Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Your heart must not be troubled or fearful.
4. Stop letting your hearts be troubled.
John 14:27 – Jesus’ Gift of Peace – “Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Your heart must not be troubled or fearful.
We have the ability to “Not Worry “. We don’t have to worry. We can choose not to worry but receive the peace of Christ.
Getting married will not be perfect peace and happiness. Marriage comes its own set of worries. Same with any job you get. Changing the situation will not make it all OK.
Only the peace that comes from Christ is the only True Peace.
Psalms 23:4
Even when I go through the darkest valley,
I fear no danger,
for You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff — they comfort me
