LC Message-John 15:12-17 Children's Message John 15:13 - Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. We all know that God really loves us. Not because we are good kids but because He has chosen to love us. He has chosen us. Sometimes we come to the point when we worry if God really loves us. We worry if we have done too many bad things for God to keep loving us. No matter what we do God really loves us even to the point of sending His own son, Jesus. No one made Jesus do this. He died for us out of His love for us. This is a very important word for us to hear. We may think we understand but actually we don't. To understand this truth is to have your life changed. -------- If we don't know God's Love we are really sad. We have to live our lives fighting against and dealing with the sadness. In order to remain in Jesus' Love: 1. Obey His commands John 15:10 - If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love. Just like a dog doesn't want to obey anyone other than its MASTER, humans are the same way. They tend to distrust anyone that asks them to obey. John 14:15 - Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit “If you love me, you will keep my commandments. John 14:23-24 – Jesus answered him, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. Whoever does not love me does not keep my words. And the word that you hear is not mine but the Father's who sent me. If you have a problem obeying God, you may need to check to make sure He is your MASTER. Caution: Commandments to Ignore: ・Judging whether others pass or don't pass. In the end everyone fails. ・Judging Others ・Putting on a fake Face 2. Love One Another Loving others means we relate to them. We will see things we don't like because we are relating to them. In order to obey God's commandment to love others we have to spend time with each other. 3. From whom and where are we to belong? Today we will move forward with Church membership. We will have a time to confirm our commitment to the church. Couples Couples and church are similar in that relationship begins when the commitment is made. Can't tell others what to do because they have no commitment to you. We are different in church. Because we are committed to one another; we can encourage one another in growth. John 15:13 – Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.
