July 12: Hebrews 10:23-25 “Setting up correct order of priority”
23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering for He who promised is faithful. 24 and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds. 25 Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another – and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
The life of apostles is described in Acts 2:46-47, “Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.” To them, “getting together” was nothing special but their “lifestyle” which is a result of each one’s decision of his/her priority. When you look at a person’s lifestyle, you may to see where his priority lies. The order of priority to the first Christians was to worship and get together to eat. Therefore, Paul warns, “let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another – and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”
As a pastor, I wish and pray that you will realize the splendor of worship and small group without being led or forced by anyone to do so, but by making worship and fellowship your priority in your life.
The messages in June have been designated as “Life Group” month for this reason. I wish that everyone would feel how wonderful for Christians to get together, sing praises and hold services putting Christ in the center. Life Group would be a wonderful place to experience and practice fellowship openly – listening to and praying for each other – with Christ in the center.
We will reconfirm how to reach the goal.
① It is important that small group should be based on the Bible
This information is already known since it has been talked about for the past five weeks.
② Take part in Life Group
Have you been able to find your life group and adjust your schedule so that you can participate in the life group? Are you making any efforts or coming up with ideas to assure life group remains true to the Bible?
③ Invite people to small group
Are you familiar with Life Church members and have interest in people who attend to life groups? Are you aware who takes part in which group? Do you encourage participants to keep coming? Do you ask the pastor or other members to assist in continuing the group or setting up a new group?
Let us pay special attention to Paul’s words and encourage each other so that anyone who comes to Life Church would realize how wonderful life group (both the Sunday service and fellowship) is – a place for “worship”, “study”, “empathy”, “forgiveness”, “prayer” and “mission”.
In July, the rest of the services will be shortened to make time for life group (about 30~45 minutes) so that more people can experience the significance of life group.
