2017.11.12 Colossians 2:16-23 “Creating good worship that pleases God.”
➀ Form a group for good worship.
Colossians 2:16-29
18 Do not let anyone who delights in false humility and the worship of angels disqualify you for the price. Such a person goes into great detail about what he has seen, and his unspiritual mind puffs him up with idle notions.
19 He has lost connection with the Head, from whom the whole body supported and held together by its ligaments and sinews, grows as God causes it to grow.
Do not be misled by false humility as if they have strong faith but separated from God.
・Visiting a church alone is not necessarily a worship.
・Without connection to the “body of Christ,” there can be no growth in faith for the worshipper.

➁ Clarify the image of good worship.
Colossians 2:23
23 Such regulations indeed have an appearance of wisdom, with their self-imposed worship; their false humility and their harsh treatment of the body, but they lack any value in restraining sensual indulgence.
Sadducees expressed their zealous faith, which is good, but seemed to be only on the surface.
・God is not deceived by “self-imposed worship,” “false humility,” nor “harsh treatment of the body.”
・Seeming “religious” is only for self-satisfaction and does not please God.
・Do not imitate “artificial” worship of others.
・There are no videos nor records to learn how the disciples actually worshiped.
・Since it is clear that the LORD is always with us, it is unnatural to shout or fall into a trance as if to get attention.
・It is important to convey “love,” “gratitude,” “resolution,” and “repentance” in normal language and tone to the LORD who is always with us.
Isaiah 1:11-17
11 “The multitude of your sacrifices … what are they?” says the LORD, “I have more than enough of burnt offerings, of rams and the fat of fattened animals; I have no pleasure in the blood of bulls and lambs and goats.
12 When you come to appear before me, who has asked this of you, this tramping of my courts? 13 Stop bringing meaningless offerings! Your incense is detestable to me. New Moon, Sabbaths and convocations – I cannot bear your evil assembles.
14 Your New Moon festivals and your appointed feasts my soul hates. They have become a burden to me; I am weary of bearing them. 15 When you spread out your hands in prayer, I will hide my eyes from you; even if you offer many prayers, I will not listen. Your hands are full of blood.
16 wash and make yourselves clean. Take your evil deeds out of my sight! Stop doing wrong. 17 learn to do right! Seek justice, encourage the oppressed. Defend the cause of the fatherless, plead the case of the widow.

➂ The presence of the LORD can be confirmed in the midst of mutual love.
Colossians 2:19
19 He has lost connection with the Head, from whom the whole body supported and held together by its ligaments and sinews, grows as God causes it to grow.
John 4:12-13
12 No one has ever seen God, but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us. 13 We know that we live in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit.
