2017.2.5 Psalms 100:1-5 ”Tasting the Joy of Giving to the Lord”

What seems to be difficult at first could turn out to be easier as you get used to it after repeating the same practice.

Psalms 100:1-2 1 Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth.

2 Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.

Q. What would be the best worship experience that you can imagine?

Q. What makes that worship experience the best?

Q. Are they something others have provided for you or something to do with yourself?

The atmosphere, the people around, your feeling, the message etc. Do we know the kind of joy God would like us to experience through worship? We can learn about the kind of joy from the book of Psalms and David.

➀ Seek the same kind of joy that David embraced.

Psalms 100:1-2 1 Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth. 2 Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. David found joy in worship and was not an obligation.

➁ David rejoiced knowing who God is.

Psalms 100:3 Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. It was a joy just to know that it is who made us.

Psalms 100:5 For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations. We may have received various ideas about God, however, we can find joy as David did that God is not selfish, ill-tempered, unfair nor moody.

We might ask ourselves: “Do I have the same kind of joy that David had?” “If not, what is the difference between David and me?”

Can we say that knowing God of love and forgiveness is joy and we find joy when we worship God. If we believe and really love God, we will always be thinking of God or can’t help thinking about God and be happy to remember God. David and Jews were thinking of God throughout the day.

➂ David worshipped God with sincere thanksgiving in public.

Psalms 100:4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.

It would be good to think, “Do I have the same kind of thanksgiving that David had?” Maybe we should make a list of things, which could go on for pages, that we can be thankful about.

You can be changed and your worship can be changed.

・When we are in a bad health condition, emotionally down, or not doing well at work to know:.

The fact that God has made us his people does not change. (Psalms 100:3)

God’s “love” and “blessing” do not change. (Psalms 100:5)
