2017.9.17 Colossians 3:12-17” Getting together in the name of the Lord.”

Colossians 3:13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.

This verse should be remembered and put into practice instead of letting it go through after listening once. We should seriously consider how we can forgive and resolve, understand and walk in unity in the Lord despite differences.

➀ The center of our gathering should be “the word of Christ.”

Colossians 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.

When you hear “the word of Christ,” imagine how it has affected or changed you.

Acts 2:42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.

Acts 2:47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

The apostles are messengers who strictly observed and taught people to follow the word of Christ.

The followers focusing on the word of Christ was received favorably.

Matthew 4:4 Jesus answered, “It is written; ‘Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”

The word of Christ is nutritious for our growth.

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

John 1:14 The Word became flesh and made dwelling among us.

John 6:55-57 55 For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. 56 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in him. 57 Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds of me will live because of me.

As much as we need food for our body, we need to take the word of Christ to live.

➁ Try everything you can imagine so that you could “let the word of Christ dwell in you richly.”

Colossians 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude I your hearts to God.

Making it a habit to read the Bible is important. Also teaching and giving advices to each other is great in practicing the word of Christ.

Deuteronomy 6:4-9 4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. 5 Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. 6 These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. 7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8 Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads 9 Write them on the door frames of your houses and on your gates.

Knowledge is important but should not be the goal. Use and practice the knowledge obtained, otherwise it is in vain.
