2018.4.8 2 Timothy 3:12-4:5 “Let’s study the Bible together!”

2 Timothy 3:16-17 16All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; 17so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.

➀ The basis of our faith is only in the Bible.

The hymn “Jesus Loves Me” compares between English and Japanese versions as below:

Jesus loves me! This I know,
For the Bible tells me so;
Littles ones to Him belong;
They are weak, but He is strong

Yes, Jesus loves me!
The Bible tells me so.

〇Japanese hymn
The Lord loves me.
The Lord is strong.
Though I am weak,
I am not afraid.
My Lord Jesus,
My Lord Jesus,
My Lord Jesus,
He loves me.

The Japanese version has no mention of the Bible whereas the English version mentions the Bible as proof of Jesus’ love.

Does the Bible truly tell that Jesus loves us?

John 15:12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.

Romans 8:39 neither height nor dept, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 10:17 Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ.

It might be a good idea to put aside knowledge acquired beforehand when reading the Bible to avoid biased understanding.

Important questions to ask yourself (to others)

“Can you tell me where it is written in the bible?” or “Does this passage truly mean that?”

2 Timothy 3:15 and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.

John 1:13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.
