2017.6.18 Romans 8:31-39 “Sharing the Joy of our Faith in (Jesus) Christ

People in general wish to share what they find to be interesting and what information they believe to be valuable to them. This trend may have become stronger as SNS enable them to easily and quickly share the information to a wider range. If we are not sharing the good news about the love of Jesus, the forgiveness of our sins and our salvation, it could mean that we do not understand their real value.

➀ Remember the value of Jesus’ good news even at times of hardship and distress.
Romans 8:35 Who shall separate us from the love Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?
When we start taking things for granted, we tend appreciate less what we have received from God. Moreover, we start feeling irritated or dissatisfied in our life.

What do we take for granted?
・Father in heaven, the love of Jesus (cross)
・Eternal life, promise of heaven
・Forgiveness of our sins
・The promise of the Holy Spirit
・Blessings on earth

➁ Remember that God is for you.
Romans 8:31 What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?
There is no need to worry about what others say or do.

➂ Remember the blessings from God.
Romans 8:32 He who did not spare his ow Son, but gave him up for us all – how will he not also, along with him graciously give us all things?
God wants us to be happy.

➃ Remember that God will never give up on us.
Romans 8:34 Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, who died – more than that, who was raised to life – is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.
Jesus intercedes for us despite our sins.

➄ Remember that we are the ultimate winners.
Romans 8:37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
God has made us winners despite all difficulties because God’s love never changes.

➅ Remember God’s perfect love.
Romans 8:38-39 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present not the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, or anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
