2018.07.22 1 John 3:18-24 “Loving Yourself in Tasting the Love of God.”
➀ Experiencing peace in your heart by loving God, your neighbor, and yourself.
1 John 3:18-19 18.Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth. 19.This then is how we know that we belong to the truth, and how we set our hearts at rest in his presence.
✓ Unable to experience peace despite devoted Bible study.
✓ Even when worships, praises and prayers are offered from the heart, peace does not last long.
✓ Peace does not come even when serving people, church and fellowships earnestly or participating in discipleships and Christian events.
➁ Loving yourself in deed and truth.
1 John 3:18 18.Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth.
Most of us…
・understand that “we need to love ourselves,”
・think “we love ourselves.”
However, if we only love “with word or tongue,” it does not really mean we love ourselves.
What would you think if God says, “I love you, but I don’t like you”? To begin with, this is not “love.”
➂ Throwing perfectionism away.
1 John 3:20 whenever our hearts condemn us. For God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything.
John 21:17 The third time he said to him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, “Do you love me?” “Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Feed my sheep.
・When we acknowledge our imperfect “love,” we tend to blame ourselves.
・Meanwhile, God knows our thought desiring to be perfect in love.
・Therefore, when we continue to love instead of giving up, then we can experience peace in abundance.
