2018.08.19 Romans 8:31-39 “Sharing the joy of being loved by God”

Romans 8:37 But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us.

Q.1. If you were told you had the right to inherit 5 million yen, how do you think your life would change? If 100 million yen? If 10 billion yen?

Q. 2. How would your life change if you were told you will receive 10 billion yen today? In five years? In fifty years?

It can be surmised that the outcome could vary not only based on the amount of inheritance but also depending on when it can be obtained.

Then what kind of effect do we, who believe in Jesus Christ, have on our lives by the promises of “eternal life,” “forgiveness of our sins,” and the “love of God.”

➀ Love of Christ can change our life immediately.

Romans 8:37 But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us.

Romans 8:32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all – how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

God’s unsparing love to sacrifice his own son for our sake and promise us eternal life if we believe and accept his love. And this promise is not for future validity but effective immediately.

➁ Love of Christ will be changing our life forever.

Romans 8:38-39 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height or depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

・If anyone feels there is no testimony to make, the person may have some misunderstanding about the “love of Christ.”

・Love of Christ is there in us continuously and does not diminish nor fade out.

➂ Checking your joy and peace coming from the love of Christ and giving thanks to God.

Romans 8:32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all – how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?
