2018.09.02 1 John 4:7-21 “In order to strive for love of God.”

Philippians 3:14 I press on toward the goal for the price of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

Review of past five months:

April: “Let’s study the Bible together!”

2 Timothy 3:16-17 16 All scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching. For reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; 17 so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.

May: “Let’s put the Biblical teaching into practice together!”

James 1:22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.

June: “Tasting the Love of God in our Daily Life.”

1 John 4:16 We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides God, and God abides in him.

July: “Loving Yourself in Tasting the Love of God.”

Mark 12:31 The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”

August: “Sharing the joy of being loved by God.”

Romans 8:37 But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us.

➀ Admitting your imperfection in exercising God’s love.

1 John 4:20-21 20 If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for the one who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen. 21 And this commandment we have from Him, that the one who loves God should love his brother also.

1 John 4:11-12 11 Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12 No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.

Philippians 3:12-14 12 Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on t o take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. 13 Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do; Forgetting what is behind and straining towards what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

・ There is no ideal church, married couple, parent and child or Christian.

Because we are sinful.

・ However, we can aim and endeavor to become an ideal church, married couple, parent and child, and Christian.

・ We can love one another instead of judging others (ourselves included) who are not ideal with endurance and forgiveness.
