2017.1.22 Proverbs 3:1-12 「Making God your No. 1 Priority in the New Year―4」

Do not seek God’s blessings but make God your utmost priority. We are being tested whether we really trust God and his promise.

Matthew6:33 Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness.

Review: 1/8 ➀　Make the “Day of the Lord” your No. 1 priority.

Exodus 35:1-2 1 Moses assembled the whole Israelite community and said to them, “These are the things the LORD has commanded you to do: 2 For six days, work is to be done, but the seventh day shall be your holy day, a Sabbath of rest to the LORD. Whoever does any work on it must be put to death.

Review: 1/15 ➁　Tithe should be considered seriously.

Malachi 3:10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this, “says the LORD Almighty,” and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.

Q.　Do Christians have to obey them as law?

Think what “Law” is.

➢　The law was given to the Jews after they were saved from Egypt.

➢　The Jews were not saved because they strictly kept the law.

A. We should not obey law to win “righteousness” but obey to train to be righteous.

２Timothy3:16-17 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

➀ Receive training of love of our Father in Heaven

Proverbs 3:11-12　11 My son, do bot despise the LORD’s discipline and do bot resent his rebuke, 12 because the LORD disciplines those he loves as a father the son he delights in.

Proverbs 3:9-10　9 Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all you crops; 10 then your barns will be filled to overflowing, you’re your vats will brim over the new wine.

As to how much you should tithe, do not depend on other people for an answer but depend on God

Hebrews 12:10 10 Our fathers disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, that we may share in his holiness.

➁ Believe there is blessing beyond training.

Proverbs 3:5-6　5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways knowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

Hebrews 12:11　 11 No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.

God is training us to entrust everything in him and trust his love.
