2017.7.30 Luke 12:41-48 “Having the Right Perspective for Your Walk with Christ”

Faith is to obey God’s command – love God and love one another – and the path will be open.

Q: What could happen when you fail to have the right perspective for your walk as a Christian?

Matthew 13:18-23 18”Listen then to what the parable of the sower means: 19When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is the seed sown along the path.

20The one who received the seed that fell on rocky places is the man who hears the word and at once received it with joy. 21But since he has no root, he lasts only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, he quickly falls away.

22The one who received the seed that fell among the thorns is the man who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke it, making it unfruitful.

23But the one who received the seed that fell on good soil is the man who hears the word and understands it. He produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.”

➀ Having the right perspective as a servant waiting for his master’s return.

Luke 12:42-43 42The Lord answered, “Who then is the faithful and wise manager, whom the master puts in charge of his servants to give them their food allowance at the proper time?

43It will be good for that servant whom the master finds doing so when he returns.

1 Corinthians 4:1-2 1So then, men ought to regard us as servants of Christ and as those entrusted with the secret things of God. 2Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful.

Hebrews 3:2 He was faithful to the one who appointed him, just as Moses was faithful in all God’s house.

Hebrews 3:6 But Christ is faithful as a son over God’s house. And we are his house, if we hold on to our courage and the hope of which we boast.

➁ Knowing the Lord’s will and doing what He wants.

Luke 12:47 That servant who knows his master’s will and does not get ready or does not do what his master wants will be beaten with many blows.

➂ Knowing about the reward which will be given by the Lord.

A. To the faithful servants.

Luke 12:44 I tell you the truth, he will put him in charge of all his possessions.

B. To the servants who didn’t know the Lord’s will,

Luke 12:48 But the one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will be beaten with few blows.

C. To the servants who knew the Lord’s will, but didn’t do

Luke 12:47 That servant who knows his master’s will and does not get ready or does not do what his master wants will be beaten with many blows.

We must be faithful to the Lord. Those who worry for not being able to practice the will of God is being faithful because otherwise there will be no worries. No one is perfect and deserves blows from God, but need to continue to move forward with faith.
