2018.3.18 Luke 161-13 “Accepting the Lordship of Christ.”

Verse of the month: Hebrews 3:2 He was faithful to the one who appointed him, just as Moses was faithful in all God’s house.

Luke 16:8 “The master commended the dishonest manager because he had acted shrewdly. For the people of this world are more shrewd in dealing with their own kind than are the people of light.”

Luke 16:9 “I tell you, use worldly wealth to gain friends for yourselves, so that when it is gone, you will be welcomed into eternal dwellings.”

Luke 16:14 The Pharisees (who love money) heard all this and ridiculed him.

・Why did the master commend the dishonest manager? ・Why did Jesus tell this parable?

⇒ ・For being shrewdly? ・To make friends with falsely earned riches.

Possibly meaning even sinful people could use falsely earned money for good.

➀ Seek your salvation at any risk. If you really wish to seek eternal life, then utilize the riches whether earned falsely or not with no concern of how your act looks like (like the prodigal son).

Luke 16:4 I know what I’ll do so that, when I lose my job here, people will welcome me into their house.

Shrewdness of this world ⇒ being faithful to small things ⇒ in the same manner, demonstrate this “shrewdness” for your own salvation.

Luke 1610 “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.

Being shrewd is being faithful to what lies in front of you. It is important to face the problem and tackle it faithfully.

However, what is the true problem we are facing? What faithfulness need to be displayed in order to solve the problem?

➁ Serve God faithfully

Luke 16:13 “No servant can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.

・Compare your efforts and passion towards your work, riches and fame as against your passion towards serving God.

・Looking back to your life objectively, would your master be “God” or “money?”
