2018.3.25 礼拝

2018.3.25 Matthew 25:14-30 “Applying the Lordship of Christ.”

God made us to have freedom to choose to love God and have a mission which is the purpose and reason for living.

Being faithful to God is the “maturity of faith” to seek ⇒ Be faithful to “mission”/”responsibility”

➀ Understanding our calling.

Matthew 25:14 “Again, it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted his property to them.

“Servant” → Christians

“Master” → Christ

“entrusting property” → leaving the business to one’s keeping → we are given a mission by Christ with responsibility to spread the good news (join in the work of God).

➁ The amount of “talent” is not important

Matthew 25:15 To one he gave five talents of money, to another two talents, and to another one talent, each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey.

・The mission entrusted to the servants is one and the same regardless of the amount of “talent.” That is to bring gain to the master.

・Regardless of the gifts, one mission is given to the Christians. That is to realize the will of the master.

…Therefore…

➂ The really important is to be “faithful to the Lord”

Matthew 25:21(23) “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’

・To the master, “5 talent,” “2 talent,” and “1 talent” are all “minute amount.” (The amount of talent is not the most important thing.)

・The master praises the two servants in the same way for their faithfulness. (v. 21, 23)

・Our utmost blessing we can hope for is not the amount of talent, but to be able to share the happiness with Christ because of our faith in Christ.

・The problem with the servant with “1 talent” was being unfaithful to the “mission” and “responsibility” to raise the seed.

・He was not being reprimanded due to lack of business skill or having been unable to increase talent.

・In short, Christians are expected to being faithful to the mission provided by Jesus Christ.
