2017.6.25 Romans 5:1-5 ”Sharing the Joy of our Faith in Christ”

➀ Rejoice the peace with God.

Romans 5:1-2 1 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.

Colossians 1:21-22 21 Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. 22 But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation.

Romans 8:31 What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?

Despite the difficulties and hardships in life, we can find peace with God through faith. And with faith in Jesus, we have been accepted as pure regardless of our sins because of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Even if the whole world should hate us, God’s love never changes and will stand for us.

➁ Rejoice at times of difficulties since it would be a chance for growth.

Romans 5:3-4 3 Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope.

James 1:2-4 2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. 4 Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

1 Peter 4:12-13 12 Dear friends, do not be surprised at the painful trial you are suffering, as though something strange were happening to you. 13 But rejoice that you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed.

When we are persecuted, it should lead us to hope because anything is possible with Jesus. Because of our faith, we can trust the promise of salvation. Moreover, we should rejoice that we can experience sharing the suffering of Jesus, which will lead to growth.

➂ Have hope in the love of God.

Romans 5:5 And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.

Romans 8:38-39 38 For I am convinced that neither death or life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
